| Protection of RAMSAR Wetland Lake Gore |
Lake Gore, is one of two RAMSAR wetlands on the South Coast of WA, is recognised to have internationally significant values. However this valuable environmental assest facea a range of threats including: • Land management practices • Erosion and sedimentation • Poor water quality • Invasive species • Altered hydrology • Lack of community understanding. If unmanaged these threats will influence RAMSAR status. This project addresses priority threats through implementing a suite of on ground actions identified in management plans and strategies for these sites and adjacent landscapes. This project operates on two landscape scales: • Within RAMSAR sites: focusing on control of invasive species • Within adjoining landscapes: focusing on improving soil management and increasing uptake of NRM, and increasing the community’s understanding of these two internationally significant areas.
